We invite you to participate in a short research study on language production and comprehension. In this study, you will be asked to make a few judgements about English sentences in conversations. The study will take approximately 4 to 5 minutes to complete.
There are no risks or benefits of any kind involved in this study. You will be paid for your participation at the posted rate.
If you have read this form and have decided to participate in this experiment, please understand your participation is voluntary and you have the right to withdraw your consent or discontinue participation at any time without penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled. In this experiment, you will be making judgements after reading 4 cartoons that involve two people talking.
For each cartoon, the questions will be asked in two parts: one before revealing the previous context, and one after revealing it.
Whenever a word is CAPITALIZED in the cartoon, it means that the speaker in the cartoon emphasized the word in her/his pronunciation.
This is a psychology experiment requiring undivided attention on your part. Please devote your attention solely to this task and read carefully. We will check to make sure that everything was read. Thanks for your participation!
